Last night at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, Drake accepted his Artist of the Decade Award. The ceremony comes almost two weeks after Billboard released their list of the Top 10 Artists of the Decade, which featured Drake at the top thanks to his lengthy history with the charts. Drake was honored at the award show by his OVO Team and his parents, who presented him with the award after playing a video featuring some of the rapper’s career highlights. 9 #1 albums, 6 #1 songs, 232 songs on the Billboard charts, and 45 Top 10 chart positions (the most of any artist ever) just to name a few. Drake came out on stage after the video tribute to accept the award, but his spotlight was quickly stolen by his three-year-old son Adonis who stayed by his side throughout his speech. Drake humbly spoke about his road to success and dedicated his award to his friends, longtime collaborators, peers, and his family and son. “I didn’t really write a grandiose speech about how to make it work or what it took, ’cause you know, to be really honest with you I don’t quite understand it myself.” Watch Drake accept his award below and remember to follow Hip Hop Scriptures to stay up to date on the latest news in hip-hop.
