Sister Souljah 360 Degrees of Power Album Anniversary

Her solo album, 360 Degrees of Power, debuted on March 17th, 1992 and was designed to reach the consciousness of the country’s youth. Sister Souljah gained national attention that same year with provocative statements about anti-white violence made in the wake of riots in Los Angeles. That attention grew dramatically when then Presidential candidate Bill Clinton denounced her comments about the riots as “hate driven and racist.” Her first and only album will forever be remembered as revolutionary. At the time her album was released  It was  met with criticism, not only for its performances—most of which were angry spoken-word tirades that Souljah screamed rather than traditional hip-hop rhymes—but also because of its controversial lyrics.
