Fresh Artist Friday: Da Butcher

Da Butcher Hip Hop Scriptures

Da Butcher’s newest album, Underground Crown, is a perfect glimpse into how versatile and special his artistry is. Each song on the album has a unique feel and they work together to build Da Butcher’s signature distinct sound. One of our favorite tracks, “Use To It” will have you feeling like stepped into a time machine. Its energy rivals that of your favorite songs from the 90s. The old school style beat he is rapping over is perfection, setting the tone of the song and complimenting Da Butcher’s lyricism nicely. He is joined by Che Noir, whose presence on the track completes the mid-90s East Coast feel. Da Butcher’s Long Island flow is incredible on the track. He wrote this song about his hustle, rapping “we are always on the grind, yeah we’re used to it” - and he definitely is. Being a hustler and having dedication to his craft is in his DNA. In his song “Agua”, he raps about the unpredictability of life, “Another roll of the dice, increase my chances. It’s the game of life.” Da Butcher talks about how it hasn’t always been easy for him, but his passion for his craft will lead him to success. Another stand out track is “Indios” where Da Butcher showcases his adaptability as a creative. The song’s production is incredible and Da Butcher lends his talents in a phenomenal way. The song blends sounds from all kinds of instruments: organ, guitar, piano; and somehow Da Butcher’s raps fit in effortlessly. His talent comes from years of hard work. Da Butcher has been making music for almost two decades, first getting started in 2005. While he is no newbie in the hip hop world, his work continues to be fresh and creative, and Underground Crown is no exception.

Da Cleaver (Butcher) is an Mc from Brentwood, NY. Looking to add to Long Island's rich hip hop history, his focus is on originality & lyrics! Taking his craft a little more serious & to the next level, he started recording in 2005, being a part of Larceny Entertainment. Originally going by Abdullah da Butcher to compliment his dark, hardcore style. At the turn of 2007 he released his 1st mixtape "Industry Jihad", then in 2008 his 2nd, titled "No Sleep" which featured him expanding on his style, also shorting his stage name to Da Butcher! Certain life situations took over after 2010 which halted a lot of momentum for him. Itching to express himself again he linked with an old friend to make a collaborative project titled LIfe, which released summer 2014, from this time forward he's been as consistent as he can be & looking for new ways to elevate himself, 1 being another rebrand for his name, now going by Da Cleaver, there's nothing like a fresh canvas for an artist!!
