"People have always trusted me and I've always been that person where my friends come to me for advice..." -- Angie Martinez

Scroll through your instagram, Facebook or Twitter feed, and it's very likely you'll find quite a few seemingly #selfie obsessed young women between the ages of 16-25 years old [and dare I say  even older ones]. Some of these women graduated from high school last month and will be embarking on either going to college or starting a career. People in general nowadays don't seem to be bragging about their values and discipline. But we can sure find hundreds of poses of them on display!

With greater access to technology we have become even more superficial as a culture, and hip hop fans are no exception. This is not meant to blast the youth! Quite the contrary, you are supposed to be making mistakes as you grow towards adulthood. This is a guide, courtesy of Ms. Angie Martinez on how to be the BEST. We've taken the liberty of breaking it down directly from her interview with New York's Power 105.1's Breakfast Club morning show:

  • Prioritize -- focus on what's important
  • Develop your craft
  • Practice loyalty (especially where keeping secrets are concerned)
  • Make people feel comfortable (safe)
  • Be conscientious
  • Be authentic
  • Be patient so that you can build your brand (not for fame or "Likes")

In the coming months, Angie will release a  2-hour long Tupac interview. One of the reasons Tupac granted access to Angie was due to her humility. Shakur genuinely respected the fact she kept it factual when discussing him on the radio airwaves.
