The birthplace of Hip Hop, August 11, 1973, 1520 Sedgewick Avenue Recreation Room. On the westside of the Bronx, New York, it all began from a humble beginning, DJ Kool Herc & his sister Cindy organized her back to school party in the rec room, charging 25 cents for girls and 50 cents for fellows. This 1st Hip-Hop party would change the world…and is now known as Hip-Hop culture. Hip-Hop has come a long way since then. From the Bronx to all boroughs, to the White House, to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, to the Barclay Center, to Madison Avenue…and has gone global 🌍. On this blessed 40th anniversary, we want to thank everyone for believing & being a part of Hip-Hop as we continue to grow into a culture that has connected with all races, we should all be proud.
