September 23rd - EPMD release their fifth album, “Back In Business”, on Def Jam Records, on this day in 1997.

This would be the Long Island duo’s first album together after breaking up four years earlier in 1993.

The gold-selling “Back In Business” would contain the hit singles, “Richter Scale” and “Da Joint”.

The album would feature production by the group’s DJ Scratch, 8-Off Agallah, Rockwilder and EPMD as well.

“Back In Business” would also feature thematic album cuts like an update of their 1988 hit “You Gots To Chill” called “You Gots To Chill ‘97” and “Jane 5”, the fifth installment of “Jane” songs released on their previous albums.

As usual the word “business” is in the album’s name as in the previous four.

EPMD would go on to release two more albums in 1999 and in 2008 with a new one to be released in 2013 or 2014. (via RAPStation)
