I know I’m late (1, 2 years late) to see it, but I just peeped the video of Kendrick Lamar performing and The Game and Snoop Dogg passing the ‘torch’ off to him as the premiere artist on the West Coast ; that was pretty powerful and I can’t imagine what it must have felt like for Kendrick , as an artist AND a fan . You also had Dr. Dre in the building giving the salute , as well as Mos Def & Talib Kweli .
To me, a glimpse at that human-side of artists on record, in interviews, and occasional moments like this, where it just creates it’s own energy, is what really attracts and solidifies a fanbase . Sure, some fans are fans just because of the buzz and momentum of an artist, but that’s fleeting; it takes a lot more and I think we’re getting that from Kendrick . For the video, click HERE .
